If you are looking for an ashram in Rajasthan, you might consider Tapovan Ashram, a relatively new, nonprofit ashram / basic health resort which emphasizes meditation, yoga, and holistic health with resident ayurvedic practitioners. It is in a quiet setting in the hills, but very close-in to Udaipur, Rajasthan. There are even pyramid structures to meditate in. The ashram is run by the pleasant retired agricultural scientist, Dr. R.C. Mehta, often with the assistance of his associate, Sundeep Mehta, a younger yoga and meditation teacher who spends the remainder of his time in England or traveling to teach at retreats. Accommodations are basic but pleasant. The ashram has orchards, a vegetable garden, and some projects to assist the local Bhil tribal peoples, including an off-site school.
